Consider the illumination level
Your customers should consider light illumination level, lens type and camera sensitivity as well. Lighting levels must be high enough for the camera to fully embrace a useable image. The security lighting level required will depend on camera sensitivity and lens type and quality. Black-and-white cameras generally have more light sensitivity than color cameras, and are recommended for most nighttime applications.
Consider the light position
Considering the light position is very important to achieve the needed level of security. Your customers have to choose a proper lighting position to spread and fall on key areas of their businesses such as doors and windows to avoid any shady activity being done in those key areas.
Advise your customers not to use the lights shining directly into windows since they can be a distraction at night when sleeping. When your customers install lights, make sure that they check where the light spread will fall.

Reduce and prevent glare
Glare will obstruct the camera’s view that of course will encourage criminals to strike. Studies have shown that criminals are aware of CCTV cameras that have too much glare, and exploit it. Instead of a few powerful lamps, multiple lamps of moderate power will reduce glare, provide more illumination with reduced pools of shadow and provide some redundancy if one lamp’s bulb blows out or develops a bad ballast.
