With the massive improvements to technology, LED lighting has its own set of options and pitfalls, therefore, we have gathered five common mistakes, which might be useful to make your customers be aware of before upgrading to LED lighting.
Choosing Wrong Fixtures
LED lighting is great for your customers to replace many other fixtures, but you need to ensure whether they are direct replacement or retrofit. Every fixture serves a purpose and can be used for many applications, but not all applications. Using the wrong fixture will reduce the life span of your LED lighting and become very costly. These fixtures will malfunction more often as well as creating much heat from the bulb. You also want fixtures to give off the right amount of light and look like they belong in their environment. If not, you may have harsh or low lighting for your office.
Lights Are Too Bright or Too Dark
When your customers are looking for their LED upgrade, let them make sure to compare the Lumens of their current bulb with the new LED replacement. Comparing the wattage of lumens to the LED’s, LED is a very good start. However, comparing the Lumen output will give you a better understanding of how bright LED light bulb or fixture will be.

Create Large Amounts of Light Pollution
Too many light fixtures can create light pollution, which decreases visibility. You want your customers to make the lighting provide clarity not to obstruct vision. Incorrect place light fixtures or extra lighting means difficult vision for visitors, employees, or residents. When letting your customers plan their lighting, make sure that their system features the right number and placement of installations as well as the proper voltage so that your customers can see all that you have to offer in your store.
Not checking out the Supplier
In line with LED bulbs’ increased popularity, the market for LED lighting has exploded during the last couple of years. There are many suppliers to choose from, but not everyone is equally genuine and the quality varies a lot from one manufacturer to another. Therefore, your customers must deeply check out the supplier before investing in new LED lighting.
Not Checking the Color Performance
All light sources have a color rendering index (CRI) and a correlated color temperature (CCT). The CRI has a maximum value of 100 and it describes how well the light source reveals the colors of other objects and surfaces. On the other hand, the CCT describes the color of the light source itself, typically ranging from 2700K (warm white) to 6500K (daylight white).
LED lighting upgrades are a great opportunity to deploy an LED lighting system as its comprehensive and offer a short payback period, but lighting results can be poor if the new lamps and fixtures are not selected carefully. So, advice your customers to pay attention while selecting the fixtures.
